Fabric
Protection
Like
your carpets, your upholstery sees a lot of action. Over the years,
spills have accumulated, you find the wet dog asleep on it, the
kids jump on it. You usually can't stop all of this from happening,
but you can minimize the appearance of it. Let EZ Dry treat your
upholstery with a fabric protectant. It will help resist spills,
staining and ultraviolet radiation, all of which dull the appearance
of your upholstery.
Upholstery
& Fabric Cleaning
Upholstery
is much more delicate than carpet and more sensitive to the cleaning
solutions that are used in the cleaning process. A variety of
cleaning methods, or combinations thereof, are necessary to effectively
clean upholstery. Determining the best methods to use, requires
extensive knowledge, training, and experience validated through
testing and certification.
EZ
Dry technicians maintain Upholstery & Fabric Cleaning Certification
through the IICRC certification program. Fiber identification
and knowledge help play a key role when determining which method
and combinations of cleaning processes will yield the most thorough
and safest cleaning results possible.
Furniture
and fabric manufacturers recommend that consumers do not wait
until severe soiling occurs before cleaning is accomplished. The
greater the soiling, the less the likelihood of restoring the
original color, appearance, and texture of the fabric, and the
greater the adverse affect on indoor environmental quality (IEQ).
IICRC
Reference Guide for Professional Upholstery Cleaning (IICRC 300)
According to the IICRC Reference Guide for Professional Upholstery
Cleaning (IICRC S300), professional cleaning of upholstered furniture
and fabric that is subjected to routine use is needed every 12
to 24 months. Increased cleaning frequency may be required when
fabric subjected to heavy use, or when it is located in homes
occupied by persons with allergies or respiratory sensitivity.
Which
Cleaning Method?
Hot-Water
Extraction (Steam-Cleaning) has proven to be the most effective
method of safely removing contaminants from the fiber and is the
first choice considered when determining which method of cleaning
to use. EZ Dry is knowledgeable in all methods of cleaning and
can choose the one best suited for your material and soil conditions.
Upholstery
Process
Pre-inspection
is done to analyze your upholstery fabric. Determination
of fabric type (natural or synthetic), pH of solution and any
special needs are made prior to beginning the cleaning procedures.
Pre-vacuum
removes dry soil and contaminates before cleaning agents are applied
Upholstery
is pre-sprayed using the proper pH solution. 5 to 10 minutes
dwell time allows for breaking down oily dirt and stains.
Horsehair
brush is used to agitate prespray before extraction, further aiding
the removal of dirt.
Depending
on the package level, either a DriMaster or traditional wand is
used to rinse and extract. The jetless cleaning technology
of the DriMaster wand leaves the fabric practically dry.
Several
options are available for protecting upholstery after cleaning.
